Continental-inflected Middle Eastern cuisine isn't hot only in West Jerusalem; chefs on the oriental side of the city have also responded to the seemingly magnetic pull of Middle Eastern ingredients dressed up with un peu d'attitude. Askadinya is a fine example of this New Middle East cuisine: lamb is dressed with mustard, capers and hearts of palm; steak with raisin and caramel sauce. And like all Jerusalem restaurants of this sensibility, whether East or West, one shall not lack for pasta and monster salads. The bar and courtyard dining are recommended.
