Independence Day Eve Events in Jerusalem: Monday May 5, 2013

 

Celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day) eve in Jerusalem with live performances and parties around town.

 

Candle lighting ceremony at Har Herzl

The annual candle lighting ceremony, which serves as a transition from Remembrance Day to Independence Day, will take place at Har Herzl at 19:45. Entrance is by invitation only.

 

20:00: Festive prayer ceremony at the Western Wall followed by singing and dancing with live music.

 

 

Main stage at Kikar Hachatulot (Cats Square): Live performance by Miri Mesika

The stage will be active from 21:00-1:00, with performances by Miri Mesika, Etti Levy, Stalos and Oren Chen, Amir Dadon, Tal Vaknin and Shir Biton. MC: DJ Elad Amdi. Free entrance.

 

Hillel St. Stage

Starting at 21:00, a street party for students and youth will take place on the Hillel Street pedestrian walkway in cooperation with the Student Union and Tze'irim Bamerkaz. The program includes Funk party with DJ David Mimram, a Hebrew music party with DJ Dror Shalit, Hamnonei House 2012 with DJ Rotem Mansano. Free entrance.

 

Midrachov Ben Yehuda Stage

Israeli party starting at 21:00 with DJ Elad Galili, DJ Yinon Shazo. Free entrance.

 

Students Celebrate Independence Opposite the Old City Walls at Alrov Mamilla Avenue.

22:00 through the wee hours of the morning at the Jaffa Gate Plaza and Mamilla Avenue. An Independence Day party for students (paid entrance- tickets available on the Student Union website).

Safra Square Stage Sing Along: 21:00-23:00 with Yehoram Gaon and Ruti Navon. Moderator: Avi Ofek. Freen entrance.

Safra Square Stage: Dancing Independence from 23:00-3:00

Israeli dancing will take place in Safra Square led by Chaim Tzemach, Sarit Doron and Debbie Pahima, Boaz Cohen and Mimi Kogan, Shlomit Cohen and Maya Shilon.

 

 

 

A central fireworks display will take place at 24:00 over the Experimental School in Gan Ha'atzmaut.

 

Independence Day Eve celebrations in Neighborhood Community Centers

Independence Day celebrations and fireworks displays will take place in community centers around the city.
