About

Located inside the Azzahra Hotel on a quiet corner of Azzahra Street, just ten minutes walking distance from the Old City, is the appropriately named Azzahra restaurant. This establishment, which opened over 50 years ago in a turn-of-the-century building which was once a lavish private residence, prides itself in a high standard of relaxed hospitality. During Jordan's rule of eastern Jerusalem from 1948 to 1967, King Abdullah and other Jordanian VIPs were known to frequent Azzahra, and in recent generations, it has emerged as one of the most popular destinations for European travelers in the city.

Azzahra's kitchen features one of Jerusalem's only proper brick ovens, which authentic thin crust Italian-style pizza one of the restaurant's signatures. The menu includes suggested combinations of toppings, which can also be ordered a la carte, and the chef has been known to prepare his pizzas dramatically in the company of his guests.

Indeed, the restaurant's menu covers the gamut of Middle Eastern favorites but also includes a variety of offerings from around the Mediterranean and the European continent, with specialties including fillet mignon and pasta dishes. The menu also boasts a large selection of wines from all over the world, with some bottles having been imported from South American wineries.
