Children go free to the museum on Fridays and Saturdays in the summer AND TO THE ACTIVITIES “THE KNIGHTS RETURN”!

There are apps and guided tours that can be downloaded from our website as well as different ways to visit the Museum with your smartphone, tablets and ipads.

 

The Night Spectacular

 

The Night Spectacular - the spectacular sound and light show at the Tower of David.  As dusk embraces the ancient stones, the story of Jerusalem unfolds in a blaze of breathtaking images on the walls of the citadel.

 

The show takes place outside. Please dress warmly. It is strongly recommended to book in advance.  The regular performance times for the Night Spectacular in August are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings at 20:30, 21:30, and 22:30

 

There will be NO Night Spectacular on Erev Tisha B’Av, Saturday night August 13.

The Knights Return

 

Free children’s admission

This summer, the knights return to the Tower of David – come enjoy a medieval afternoon in the citadel of the city of Jerusalem, take on challenging assignments and join a festive feast.

 

Activities are planned for the whole family who will be accompanied by a “real” knight, who will take you on adventures and quests in search of the elusive title of “Knight”.

 

“Commoners” set out on a special training course that includes archery, missions of bravery, water challenges, power and other tasks and complete it as real knights! A final ceremony will be held to welcome the new knights complete with a medieval banquet of power balls, enchanted rings and magical potions.

 

Mondays & Wednesdays I August I at 16:00, 17:30 – the activity is in Hebrew

TUESDAY HAPPY HOUR AT THE TOWER OF DAVID

 

Every Tuesday between 16:00 – 19:00, you can enjoy a magical afternoon in the citadel of the Tower of David.

 

It’s happy hour – when it’s 2 for the price of 1 – entrance tickets to the Museum. Tuesday afternoons will include:

 

·         A visit to the museum galleries and the new photography exhibition

·         A unique chance to see the view of Jerusalem at dusk, the hour that Jerusalem turns golden

·         A guided tour of the “Camera Man” exhibition (in Hebrew)

·         A glass of wine per visitor.

The tour of the exhibition takes place at 18:00, advance registration is required. (the tour is included in the price of admission)

The Camera Man: Women and Men Photograph Jerusalem 1900 to 1950

 

The exhibition “The Camera Man – Women and Men Photograph Jerusalem 1900-1950 takes an original look at this complex and fascinating city and gives you an intimate glimpse into life in the city at the first half of the 20th century. The exhibition highlights the unique and complex human and cultural heritage of the city and for the first time offers a complete look at the photographic work in Jerusalem of Christians, Jews and Muslims between the years 1900- 1950.

 

These photographs show the unique way that each photographer documented the many faces of Jerusalem. Many photographers recorded the Jerusalem residents of different communities; some were hired by institutions and organizations to photograph various historical events that occurred in the city and some were artists who sought to honor the unique faces of Jerusalem.

 

There are tours of the exhibition in Hebrew on Tuesdays at 10:00 am included in the entrance admission during August.

JERUSALEM THROUGH THE CAMERA LENS! 

 

A new tour offered in Hebrew. Jerusalem is the most photographed city in the world. New tour that brings the story of the city during the first half of the 20th century into foucs through the camera lens, from the perspective of the photographers. The first photographers came to Jerusalem shortly after the invention of photography and photography is an important source in documenting the uniqueness of the city’s landscapes and people.

 

The new tour shows the story of the city through the camera lens, from the perspective of the photographers. The tour begins with a visit to the exhibition and continues to downtown Jerusalem, following the story of photographers and legendary photo studios and shops. From the Museum the tour goes to Jaffa Street, Safra Square, Ben Yehuda Street, Bezalel Street and ends with a visit to the artists house on Samuel HaNagid street . The tour lasts three hours. Jerusalem. One city – the whole world. A city of beliefs and traditions where within the beautiful alleyways lies a complex and intriguing world of people, stories and cultures.

 

The Tower of David Museum brings you the stories, tastes, sounds and ideas of the city and invites you to MASAH – a new series of meetings, lectures and tours. You are invited to meet Jerusalem and get to know it anew and a little differently each time.

From July through to September 2016 the focus will be on the many Faces of the City – the different cultures and religions that developed and grew in the city created a unique diversity and discovers the fascinating tales of various communities living in Jerusalem.

Special guided tours in English at the Tower of David

 

·  FRIDAYS at 10:00. From Herod's Palace to British Prison  - A guided tour in English of the Citadel Moat and the Kishle Excavations

 

A guided tour of both the Citadel moat and the" Kishle", one of the most fascinating hidden spaces in the Tower of David Museum compound  - an underground space that spans the history of Jerusalem.  The tour will include the "Kishle" building. During the archaeological excavations that took place there over the last decade a "timeline" of Jerusalem was discovered from finds from the First Temple Period, the remains of Herod's palace and tanneries and dying pools from the Middle Ages up until the walls of Suleiman the Magnificent and prison etchings on the wall of the British Mandate prison. On the way, the tour goes through the south-western part of the moat of the fortress where unique and fascinating archaeological remains were uncovered.
