Jerusalem Time Elevator

Jerusalem Attractions - 52

In the future, when the entirety of Earth's surface is covered by a dense network of dystopian megalopoli, man's history will be buried, and the only way to experience it will be through vaguely virtual reality multimedia extravaganzas with moving chairs and the occasional water spraying from the ceiling. Boldly taking us forward into that brand new day is the Jerusalem Time Elevator, a...vaguely virtual reality multimedia extravaganza with moving chairs and the occasional water spraying from the ceiling.

The centerpiece is a half-hour film, starring Haim Topol – best known to international audiences as Tevye in the film version of The Fiddler on the Roof – as a 3,000-year-old man named Shalem who guides the audience through the turbulent history of the city of Jerusalem. The chairs, which boast six axes of motion, are touted as being able to recreate the sensation of everything from sweeping into Jerusalem with the Roman legions of Titus to sweeping into Jerusalem with the Jewish legions of Moshe Dayan. The intensity of movement can be adjusted to suit small children or those who feel that historical experiences need not necessarily involve shaking. The film is shown about every 40 minutes.
