Beit Shmuel presents "Tikkun Leil Shavuot": Shavuot night learning on the theme of creative first fruits, debut works and artistic masterpieces in literature, film, and poetry.

Saturday night, May 26, 2012 at 22:45

Shavuot is the holiday of the first fruits. In biblical and temple times, the holiday was the beginning of the season for bringing the first crops to the Beit Hamikdash (Holy Temple) in Jerusalem. This year, Beit Shmuel symbolically continues this tradition on Shavuot night with an all-night marathon of lectures and tours at Hebrew Union College and Beit Shmuel focusing on cultural first fruits. Central personalities in the fields of liberal arts and culture will lead participants on journeys in the worlds of literature, film, and poetry. Lecturers include Israeli author A.B. Yehoshua, Nissim Dayan, Rabbi Shlomo Fox, Professor Bill Kater, Rabbi Doctor Dalia Marcus, Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback, Dr. David Ilan, and more.

This is a Hebrew-language only event.
