Beit Avi Chai presents "What is Love?": A literary performance based on Bialik's work

Wednesday, December 19, 8:30 PM

In many of his stories and poems, Bialik grapples with the mystery of love, its pangs and prohibitions, to which he gives a central place in his works. Poems such as Eineha (Her eyes) and Mikhtav katan li katvah (She wrote me a short letter); odes including Hi yoshvah la-halon (She's sitting at the window,) and Lo bayom ve-lo ba-layla (Not in daytime and not at night); and the story Me-ahorei ha-gader (Behind the fence) (about forbidden love)-all deal with the mysterious ways of the experience of love.
Actors and singers present selections from Bialik's works and excerpts from his correspondence with the artist Ira Jan, with whom he had an unconsummated love affair.

Moderator and editor: Meir Ouziel

With: Eli Danker, the Tzanhani brothers, Dan Kaner, Itzik Gabbai, Ayala Silberman, Yoav Yefet

Admission: NIS 60, students NIS 20

This is a Hebrew-language only event.
