Beit Avi Chai presents the third Piyyut Festival. This year's performances highlight ancient, unique traditions that are not well known to the general public. The festival includes concerts, workshops, and tours.
In addition, thoughout the festival, the art installation exhibit "Visual Prayer" will be displayed in the Beit Avi Chai gallery. About the installation: What would happen if the letters of the alphabet prayed? If they dropped everything and meditated? This video installation, designed to create a mystical Jewish experience, incorporates audio and visual dimensions and uses of three main parts of the Jewish liturgy as mantras for spiritual elevation: the Shema, the Kaddish, and the Shemoneh Esreh.

The ancient and elaborate tradition of Yemenite Jewish piyyutim
A special tribute to cantor, researcher, and poet Aharon Amram
The tradition of Yemenite Jewish piyyutim is one of the most ancient among the various piyyut traditions, and has inspired many musical creations Israel and the Diaspora.
In the concert, three generations of musicians, Paytanim and traditional Dance artists accompanied by an ensemble of International-Israeli Jazz musicians. Together they will perform innovative and refreshing new arrangements to a unique selection of classic Yemenite piyyutim.

Piyyutim from Afghanistan and original songs inspired by Sufi music from India, Pakistan, and Iran
The Jewish community of Afghanistan lived for thousands of years at the crossroads between Iran, India, Turkey, and Pakistan, and produced a unique local culture containing many diverse influences.
An ensemble of leading Israeli musicians specializing in Sufi music from the Near and Far East perform original arrangements of piyyutim from the Afghan-Jewish tradition, as well as Psalms set to original music inspired by classical and folk songs and by qawwali music (from the Sufi tradition of Pakistan and India).
Iranian and Indian elements meet in piyyutim about devotion and dedication, leading listeners to a new awareness of God and drawing them closer to Him.
