The Museum of Islamic Art presents a series of lectures and performances inspired by its current exhibit, Travels to Yemen, on Thursdays in March at 19:00.


Thursday March 1, 2012: "Jews of Yemen - sites and encounters": a lecture by Naftali Hilger. The photographer of the exhibit will tell stories from his travels to Yemen in the past 24 years.


Thursday March 15, 2012: "Yemenite Jewry: Between the Queen of Sheba and the working class villages in Israel." Professor Yehuda Nini, from the History of the Jews department at Hebrew University shakes off the dust from the story of Yemenite Jews and fills in gaps from the journey that they experienced.


Thursday March 22: Gila Bashari, Yemenite singer, hits the stage with a night of authentic women's music. She'll be accompanied by Tziona Cohen (vocals and percussion) and Aviad Zandani (percussion). Click here to see a clip of Gila Bashari singing.
