Beit Avi Chai presents "Dancing Ashkenazis--An authentic Ashkenazi dance workshop": Self-expression and tradition in a unique, challenging workshop.
A special opportunity to learn the special genre of Jewish dance that evolved in Eastern Europe.
Ashkenazi dance includes dances for individual, pairs, and groups.
Instructor: Prof. Walter Zev Feldman, a scholar of music and one of the few experts on the authentic dancing of Ashkenazi Jewry.
The workshop will be accompanied by a musical ensemble.
In view of the success of the previous workshops, there will be two dance workshops: one for beginners and one for advanced students.
For dancers, lovers of dance, and everyone interested in Ashkenazi culture
At each session Prof. Feldman will deliver a lecture illuminating another angle of Ashkenazi dance. The lectures will include films and other means of illustration and is meant for both the beginners' and advanced groups.
Workshop schedule:
Six sessions, on Thursdays, starting February 4 at 19:00
19:00-20:00 PM: Beginners' dance workshop
20:00-21:00 PM: Lecture
21:00-22:00 PM: Advanced dance workshop
