Spirella: Jewish Women's Dance Theatre

Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 20:30

The Tami Jewish Women's Dance Theatre, led by artistic director and choreographer Tamara Mialnik, group hits the stage at Gerard Bechar for a debut performance of their fascinating new show "Spirella." The show, created and performed by Mialnik and the ensemble, gives the audience a unique peek inside the world of the Jewish woman and her life on many different levels, public and hidden, through the existential experiences of happiness, prayer, ritual purity, domestic upkeep, aesthetics, family life, identity, Judaism, femininity, modesty, and boundaries. For the first time in years, Mialnik will sing in Yiddish as a tribute to Jewish Theatre.

The Tami Ensemble is a group of friends comprised of women and young women, different and alike, with the common denominator being their love of Judaism, religion, dance, questions of identity and femininity, and the desire to dance and express themselves through dance as an impetus to self-empowerment, femininity, and religion.

For women only.
