The opening ceremony of the 19th Maccabiah will take place at the Teddy Stadium on July 18th, 2013, with the participation of hundreds of dancers, performers and athletes from around the world.
The Maccabiah is the largest Jewish sports competition in the world, taking place once every four years in Israel, initiated by the world Maccabi movement. In order to participate, athletes must represent a delegation, with delegations hailing from France, Brazil, Germany, the United States, Canada, Hungary, Australia, and others.
The first Maccabi tournament took place in 1932 and over the years various sports legends have participated, such as Mark Spitz, Larry Brown, and others. The 2013 Maccabiah will be the biggest yet, with over 9000 athletes representing 72 delegations set to participate.
