JERUSALEM DAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE TOWER OF DAVID MUSEUM

FREE ENTRANCE - WEDNESDAY, MAY 13 

 

MAYOR NIR BARKAT TO RECEIVE THE PUBLIC BETWEEN 15:30-17:30

 

On Wednesday May 13, the general public is invited to the Tower of David Museum from 12;00 - 18:00 to enjoy the Jerusalem Day Celebrations in the Citadel and meet the unforgettable characters, events and stories of Jerusalem past and present.

 

LOOKING BACK: King David, who while playing his harp, will talk about his life and his journey from a shepherd boy to the King of Israel. Solomon, the King that built the First Temple, will tell the public about the unforgettable visit of the Queen of Sheba and her entourage that brought fragrances and colors from a faraway land, and King Herod will talk about his building passions as he designed and re-built Jerusalem 2000 years ago. Suleiman the Magnificent will make an unforgettable appearance to meet with one of the chief engineers of his court, and the first British High Commissioner, Herbert Samuel will host a British tea party and tell us stories from 100 years ago! Teddy Kollek, Jerusalem’s much loved mayor for 28 years, will make a special appearance, as well as Golda Meir, Palmach fighters from pre-1948 and accordion players to add to the atmosphere singing Eretz Yisrael songs.

 

LOOKING FORWARD: The new Innovation Lab at the Tower of DAvid Museum will b open to the public and visitors are invited to learn (in Hebrew and English) more about how VR and AR technology will be helping visitors explore the secrets of the citadel and Jerusalem with Australian company Lithodomos.

 

In addition, there will be:

 

- Information and guiding stations about Jerusalem and the Tower of David

 

- Food and drink stands·

 

- The actors will speak in Hebrew.

 

 

The Mayor, Mr Nir Barkat will be meeting the public from 15:30 – 17:30.
