Sunday aug 22nd

Beit Avi Chai presents the third annual miniature Sukkah building contest. This year's theme is expressing personal ideas of what the Sukkah symbolizes. There are two tracts: the first is the communal tract for groups representing organizations and institutions, and the second is the open tract for individuals, both professional and amateur artists. The dimensions of the miniature Sukkah should be no more than 40x40x40 cm, and the Sukkot can be built from any material. Beit Avi Chai is offering preparatory workshops for those who would like to participate in the community tract.

Of course, no competition would be complete without prizes: prizes for the community tract are 6,000 NIS for first place and 4,000 for second place. Prizes for the open tract are 3,000 NIS for first place, and 2,000 for second place. There will also be a prize for the people's choice favorite Sukkah of 1,000 NIS.

The winning Sukkot will be displayed in an exhibit at Beit Avi Chai on the intermediate days of Sukkot. Participants will be invited to a special concert at which the winners will be announced. All participants will receive participatory prizes.

Entries must be delivered by September 12, 2010, to Beit Avi Chai, along with a registration form and a short written piece about the concept behind the Sukkah. The full rules and conditions as well as the registration form can be found on the Beit Avi Chai website.
