On the second day of the Hajj, Muslims observe the holiday of “Yaum Arafah” or the Day of Arafat. This momentous holiday is the culminating day of the pilgrimage, and is important not only to pilgrims but to Muslims all over the world.
The Day of Arafat occurs on the second day of the pilgrimage rituals. The pilgrims depart from Mecca and gather in the nearby hillside and plain of Mount Arafat and the Plain of Arafat. It is believed that in this spot, Mohammed gave the Farewell Sermon toward the end of his life.
