The Israel Museum presents "Good Night": a new exhibit.
March 29, 2012-February 2, 2013
Location: Weinstein Gallery, Ruth Youth Wing
Curator: Kobi Ben-Meir
Each night at sundown the stars come out, illuminating the dark sky. The house bustles with activity in preparation for sleep; not only is it a way of revitalizing the body, but also a rite of passage marking the transition from the exertion of the day to the repose of the night and the sweetness of slumber. The exhibition peeks into the bedroom, exploring the different stages of sleep and the imagery associated with it, while also looking outdoors, illustrating the changes taking place at night in nature. The moon accompanies the visitor, offering solace and suffusing the gallery with a sense of mystery and fantasy. Highlighting works of contemporary art, this exhibition for the whole family also includes activity corners and features objects from diverse times and cultures, attesting to the timelessness of the subject.
Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00; Tuesday 16:00 to 21:00; Friday 10:00 to 14:00
