The Israel Festival 2012: four weeks of performances by performers from Israel and abroad!

23.05.2012 - 14.06.2012

The Israel Festival is the largest and most important international arts and cultural festival in the land and has chosen Jerusalem as its eternal home (save for a few scattered events in other cities). The Festival, now in its 51st year, runs for several weeks and features high-end theater, music, and dance performances in various venues around Jerusalem. This year's venues include several halls of the Jerusalem Theatre (Sherover, Henry Crown Hall, Rivka Crown, The Studio) as well as its outdoor plaza, Safra Square, the YMCA, Eden-Tamir Music Center in Ein Kerem, and more.  Festival performances will also take place in Holon and Modiin. The Festival is honored to host artists from many countries including Israel, the Unites States, Japan, China, Czech Republic, Chile, Denmark, Russia, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, Belgium, Finland, Italy, England, Austria, Georgia, France, Ireland and Greece.

This year's festival will include 31 performances all together and focuses on multi- and inter-disciplinary performances. Japan is celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations with Israel, while China and the Czech Republic are celebrating 20, and these momentous anniversaries will be marked through the spectacular artistic creation that they are contributing to this year's festival.

Special Events

  • The festival kicks off with a tribute to celebrated Israeli musician Yossi Banai (1932-2006) in Safra Square.

  • The Yamato Brothers of Japan will give a breathtaking performance filled with rhythm and energy at the Mount Scopus Ampitheatre
