The Jerusalem Municipality presents a Children's Winter: two weekends of family and children's events. The initiative is organized by the Jerusalem Development Authority and the Jerusalem Municipality and produced by the Ariel Company.
The events will take place on the first two weekends in March: March 3-5, 2011 and March 10-12, 2011. The weekends present a unique opportunity for families to enjoy Jerusalem's many family-friendly cultural offerings for free or at discounted prices.
All of Jerusalem's museums will participate, offering discounted admission prices. Family tickets will be available for 60 NIS, and individual tickets for 15 NIS.
Other highlights:
*"Jerusalem Treasures" Scavenger Hunt: Families are invited to search for treasures hidden around Jerusalem. The game will take place in three locations and will include historical sites, walking routes, viewpoints, central venues, people, alleyways, actors, special missions, and more.
*Ice Skating in Safra Square will take place on the second weekend.
*"A Sweet Picnic": a huge picnic will take place in the YMCA's outdoor plaza. Picnic baskets will be distributed to families who
have registered in advance.
*Special events for kids and families at museums all around the city - tours, workshops, and many other surprises.
*A laser show on the roof of Hechal Shlomo
*Ancient craft workshop and Train Theater performances at the Ein Yael Museum.
*Photography, dance, and theater workshops for parents and children at the Musrara School, the KumKum Theater, and Machol Shalem.
*"The Magic Flute": Opera for children at the Italian Museum
*"The Young Scientist": a nature research journey for kids at the Botanical Gardens in Givat Ram
*Classic children's films and encounters with children's book authors and illustrators at the Cinematheque
*Classical concerts and performances with explanations at the Jerusalem Theater, including dance performances and workshops.
