Alongside the new "Other Lives" exhibit, and the museum's other exhibits and shows, the Bloomfield Science Museum offers a variety of workshops and demonstrations for kids throughout November.


Mirror Calculator: addition, multiplication, and other arithmatic operations with the help of mirrors. Kids will create a calculator out of mirrors at a workshop accompanied by guidance by the museum's educational staff. Try things out, experiment, and take home what you make. Monday-Thursday at 16:30, Friday from 11:00-13:30, Saturday from 10:30-14:30

Secret Writing: One of Turing's remarkable achievements was breaking to code of the "Enigma" cipher machine which served the German army in the Second World War. In this workshop, children will learn how to use ciphering techniques from ancient times through modern day codes and data encryption. Mondays and Wednesdays at 14:00, Fridays at 13:00, Saturdays at 11:30.


Hocus Pocus Mathamatics Demonstration: what the connection between magic, magicians, and mathamatics? How do magicians know how to figure out our age or which secret number we chose? Come experience, try for yourself, and be a magician using the wonders of mathamatics. Saturdays at 14:00


Flashlight in the Dark Workshop: This workshop for children and their parents (ages 5-10) takes place in the dark. How do we see at night? Which other senses are used when vision is limited? How do animals adjust to night vision? Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30 and 16:00, Saturday at 11:00 and 12:30.
