The Jerusalem Municipality presents A Children's Winter: two weekends of family and children's events. The initiative is organized by the Jerusalem Development Authority and the Jerusalem Municipality and produced by the Ariel Company.


The events will take place on the first two weekends in March: March 3-5, 2011 and March 10-12, 2011. The weekends present a unique opportunity for families to enjoy Jerusalem's many family-friendly cultural offerings for free or at discounted prices.


All of Jerusalem's museums will participate, offering discounted admission prices. Family tickets will be available for 60 NIS, and individual tickets for 15 NIS.

Events at The Museum for Israel Museum:

Friday, March 11 at 11:00 - Children's Games: Noa Dar's Dance Theater presents "Children's Games": a performance for the whole family inspired by "Children's Games", Pieter Brueghel's 16th Century masterpiece. The show combines dance, music, acting, juggling, and video.

Thursdays, March 3 and 10 at 16:00 and Fridays, March 4 and 11 at 11:00 - Theatrical Tours: For families and children ages 12 and above. A unique experience which presents a new way of looking at art and objects in the museum. Three different tours; each one will take you to a different world. Written and directed by Joyce Klein.


1. Thursday, March 3 at 16:00; Friday, March 11 at 11:00: Eating with the Eyes: The audience is invited to gain a new and refreshing view on art, food, recipes, and what's in between, on a colorful, tasty tour through the art in the museum. With Odelia Vahav.


2. Friday, March 4 at 11:00: Fear and Trembling: A fascinating and chilling theatrical tour. Yes, there is fear and trembling in the art galleries! An actor leads the audience through skeletons, skulls, death masks, and more, from the archaeological gallery, through the American culture gallery and to the modern culture gallery. 3. Thursday, March 10, at 16:00: On Love and Romance: The tour follows love and romance in artistic masterpieces, sculptures and objects in the museum, including works by Chagall, Picasso, Rodin, and others. With Zohar Kahanov.

Fridays, March 4 and 11 from 10:00-13:00: Arts and Crafts workshops for kids ages 6-10. Artists direct children in different art workshops. The workshops are at no extra charge and are first come first served.
