The Jerusalem Municipality presents A Children's Winter: two weekends of family and children's events. The initiative is organized by the Jerusalem Development Authority and the Jerusalem Municipality and produced by the Ariel Company.

The events will take place on the first two weekends in March: March 3-5, 2011 and March 10-12, 2011. The weekends present a unique opportunity for families to enjoy Jerusalem's many family-friendly cultural offerings for free or at discounted prices.

All of Jerusalem's museums will participate, offering discounted admission prices. Family tickets will be available for 60 NIS, and individual tickets for 15 NIS.

Events at the Tower of David Museum:

On Friday March 4 and 11, 2011, at 10:00 and 11:30, The Tower of David Museum will host a special activity for the whole family in its "Letters and More: The Story of the Alphabet" exhibit. The interactive activity will feature encounters with characters from various periods in history, going all the way back before the written word was created and up until Canaanite and Egyptian characters. On a guided tour around the Tower, participants will reveal writings about Jerusalem from different periods throughout history, and in a room dedicated to the 19th century, museum goers will learn more about Eliezer Ben Yehuda and his revival of the Hebrew language. The activity will end with an exciting activity in the game room on the subject of writing and language. Visitors will have the chance to create maks, play games with dice, card games, and other games that were developed especially for the exhibit.

The activity is appropriate for children ages 6-10.

Special entrance fees to the museum and exhibit: 15 NIS: adults and children | 60 NIS per family. All activities are included in the entrance fee.
