Beit Avi Chai presents "From Salonika to Jerusalem"

Thursday, May 10, 20:00

A musical journey that begins in Salonika between the two world wars, the home of Zaddik, Gazoz, and their friends, who wrote lyrics in Ladino for the Greek melodies they played. The journey continues on to contemporary Jerusalem, where the Perah Adom band breathes new life into the Rembetika music of those years and adds original pieces based on Greek music of diverse eras.

The Perah Adom band started out in Jerusalem's Nahlaot neighborhood, built itself an audience, and also became famous in Greece. The band played with Greek musicians, including poet Manolis Rasoulis, singer Sofia Papazoglou, and Rembetika musicians Manolis Karantinis and Nikos Tatasopoulos.

Moderator: Yaron Enosh, with members of the Perah Adom Band:
Tomer Katz - bouzouqi, oud, ba?lama, vocals, Hebrew texts, and musical direction | Tzipi Dagan and Inbal Dadon - vocals | Dan Sela - contrabass | Vera Gorschtein - violin | Nimrod Atzmon - guitar | Omer Lahav | percussion | Hadas Pal-Yarden - vocals

Admission: NIS 50, students: NIS 20

This is a Hebrew-language only event.
