Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Decrees, is the night that Muslims believe their fate for the coming year will be decided by God. Therefore they spend the entire night in intense prayer for salvation.
Laylat al-Qadr is also the anniversary of the revelation of the first verses of the Koran to the Islamic Prophet Mohammed.
