The Gerard Bechar Center presents French Jazz pianist Frank Amsallem, in Jerusalem for one performance only. Born in Algeria, Jazz pianist, singer, and composer Amsallem studied piano and then saxophone in Nice. After meeting several well-known jazz musicians he decided to travel to the United States where he studied with famous jazz musicians, in addition to studying classical piano with Philip Cavin. He has been performing live since 1986 and has appeared with the Jerry Mulligan Ensemble, Maria Schneider, and Joe Chambers. He has collaborated on musical projects with several big name Jazz musicians. In 2001 Amsallem returned to France and taught at the Paris Conservatory and composed pieces for France's national jazz orchestra. He has won several prizes and performed around the world solo as well as with various famous jazz musicians. He continues to perform and compose. His latest album, "Amsallem Sings" features his own vocals.
