Friday aug 3rd

The Youth Authority presents a series of four unique Friday "Kabbalat Shabbat" concerts, featuring the best of secular and religious musical names. The concerts will take place at the Gerard Bechar Center's open space on Bezalel Street at 15:30.

Through music, the artists will discuss issues and values that arrive in each week's weekly Torah portion. Everyone is welcome to bring in the Sabbath with friends, family, and good music.

15 Av | August 3: "Free Love" - Parashat "Va-etchanan": Shai Gebso and the Madregot and Amir Lev. This unique musical encounter will reveal the complexity of Israeli music.

22 Av | August 10: "Women's Encore" - Parashat "Ekev": Alma Zohar hosts Dana Berger and Mika Karni - women's voices bring in the Sabbath. These three queens of Israeli music sit on one stage for a musical discussion of everything on their minds, both difficult and joyous.

28 Av | August 17: "Mutual Responsibility" - Parashat "Re-eh": The Beit Habubot Quartet and the Alma Ensemble will open the gates of heaven in a surprising encounter.

6 Elul | August 24: "Pursue Justice" - Parashat "Shoftim": Eran Zur and Aharon Razel sing and play music in honor of the Sabbath. Through music, they'll discuss the hidden and revealed messages in the weekly Torah portion, and the way in which we experience the same dilemmas in our modern every day lives.
