Yisrael Lutnick - the singing Rabbi that established the Israel Musicals is starting the 5th season of Israel musicals with the beloved Kismet.
A romantic and funny glimpse to Bagdad of the year 1000, when extremist religion was unheard of, and joy of life was everywhere.
Neither Aladdin nor Ali Baba ever had a day like the one told here! In the span of twenty-four hours, Hajj the Beggar manages to escape the clutches of a vengeful bandit, confront the evil Wazir of Police, catch the eye of the Wazir's voluptuous wife, serve as Emir of Baghdad, and see his daughter wed to the handsome Caliph.
Kismet has one of the most beautiful scores of all time, with soaring melodies adapted from Alexander Borodin's music, such as Stranger In Paradise, And This Is My Beloved and Baubles, Bangles and Beads and other melodies adapted from his classical-romantic masterpieces.
Israel Musicals is dedicated to bringing great musical theater to Israel in its original English, just like on the West End or Broadway. The theater has recently produced shows such as Man of La Mancha, The Sound of Music, Annie and 1776. Israel Musicals is proud to provide a stage for professional musical theater performers to perform, in their original English versions, some of the classic shows of Broadway.
The productions always put the strongest emphasis on artistic excellence and great acting. One of our directors, Batsheva Garnett, is a much sought-after acting teacher in London and Toronto. Israel Musicals have brought such talented performers as Isaac Sutton (1776), Andrea Markowicz (1776), Lisa Woo (Let The Memories Live Again), Eran Sarel (Rewrite The
World) and Robin Abramson (The Sound of Music) to Israeli stages.
