The Bloomfield Science Museum presents "Mirror Purim": straight mirrors, doubling mirrors, upside down mirrors, crooked mirrors - what turns an object into a mirror? Two days of guided tours, games, and arts and crafts over the Purim holiday, from March 19-21, 2011. The activities are appropriate for ages four and up.
The Mirror Room: Visitors enter a huge kaleidoscope made of mirrors and check: how many times are you reflected in the different mirrors? Where did the reflections of the people standing next to me go? Experiment and have fun with crooked mirrors, curved mirrors, concave mirrors, cylindrical mirrors. Tour the museum's mirror displays and discover what makes an object into a mirror, why reflections in mirrors are side to side and not up and down. Build a mirror calculator, put objects in the center, and see what causes there to be a different number of reflections every time the calculator is opened and closed. Build, experiment, and take home what you built.
Science Theater: Dr. Water Molecule: a humorous and entertaining scientific theatrical show written and performed by Uri Weil. Through humor and drama, and with audience participation, the Doctor teaches scientific principles and characteristics of water. The show will take place at 13:00 in the museum's auditorium. There is an additional fee of 15 NIS for the show.
Monday to Thursday 10:00 to 18:00; Friday 10:00 to 14:00; Saturday 10:00 to 15:00; Sundays closed
