Beit Avi Chai presents "A Yiddishe Mame": How did the Jewish mother come to symbolize Yiddish? How did she enter literature, how did she appear on stage and screen, and how did she metamorphose into the Polish mother from Ramat Aviv Gimmel?
This event is in honor of the sixth issue of Davka, a Hebrew periodical about Yiddish language and culture, dedicated to the multifaceted persona of the yiddishe mame.

With:
• Dr. Gilad Padva, cultural scholar, Tel Aviv University
• Prof. Avraham Novershtern, lecturer in Yiddish at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and director of "Beit Shalom Aleichem"
• Ella Florsheim, a scholar of the revival of Yiddish culture in the DP camps in Germany
• Esti Nisim, actress-reading excerpts from prose and poetry
Moderator: Benny Hendel

This is a Hebrew-language only event
