Revisit the Rockefeller Museum of Archaeology, the first museum of archaeology in the country. Built in East Jerusalem by British Mandatory authorities, the Museum opened in 1938. It currently stands on the open seam-line between East and West Jerusalem, between a utopian vision and a harsh unforgiving reality.
As part of Manofim: The Annual Exhibition Series Opening, the Israel Museum's Rockafeller Museum hosts contemporary visual art exhibits in its breathtaking galleries, aiming to create a new interpretation of this unusual public space and the eclectic archaeological collection which it houses, juxtaposing classic archaeology and contemporary art.
