Makom Le-shira (The Poetry Place) presents "Artist Book": an exhibit by Michal Zehavi, which will be displayed in the Botanical Gardens as part of the "Meter al Meter" (One Square Meter) festival.
The exhibit deals with the status of used books in the age of usefulness. In an age where books are coffee shop furnishings, Zehavi explores the relevance and usefulness of the book as a practical item and raw material, and the reduction from an object that provides content to one which merely displays content, and the ability to recycle one aesthetic object for another while nullifying the meaning and quality that books once held.
The exhibit opens on Wednesday, June 20th at 19:00 at the Visitor's Center in the Botanical Gardens, 1 Burla Street. The opening event will include ping pong poetry: between the book cover and what's inside, with poets Hedva Harkevi and Gilad Meiri, and a discussion with the artist and curator of the exhibit.
