Traditions of paradise through Jewish perspectives, consciously and sub-consciously, in reality and in dreams
On Tuesday, June 7, the Tower of David Museum celebrates Leil Shavuot.
The Garden of Eden is considered a sacred site located beyond the limits of time and place, tied to the creation of man and held as the ultimate in goodness. This evening we will go on a journey looking at Garden of Eden and paradise and review how the concept was perceived in Jewish thought over the years and how it has manifested itself in other traditions and cultures. We will discover the symbols and images that represent paradise, creation and eternity, innocence and knowledge and on the position of man in the face of G-d.
Sessions to begin at 22:30 and to continue to 02:00 with keynote speaker Professor Rachel Elior of Hebrew University.
The evening will be outside in the courtyard of the citadel. Please wear warm clothing.
Admission free. The evening takes place due to the generosity of the Keshet Foundation.
Sunday - Thursday from 10:00 - 17:00 | Fridays from 10:00 - 14:00 | Saturdays from 10:00 - 17:00
