Sunday aug 22nd

The Bible Lands Museum presents "May we be as the head and not as the tail": an display in celebration of the High Holy Days.

The Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) dinner table would not be complete without them. They denote the fertility blessing given to them at Creation: "Be fertile and increase, fill the waters in the seas" (Genesis 1:22). They are a symbol of wealth and prosperity, and the evil eye does not control them. Some even believe that they will eat the sins we cast into the river during Tashlikh. A special display on the symbols and importance of fish will open in celebration of the High Holy days, on August 22, 2010

Open Hours

Sunday to Tuesday, Thursday 9:30 to 17:30; Wednesday, 9:30 to 21:30; Friday and Holiday eves, 9:30 to 14:00. During the months of July and August, the museum will be open seven days a week.
