"Echoes of Egypt" is a new exhibition opened at the Bible Lands Museum to mark the 30th anniversary of the Egypt – Israel Peace Agreement (signed March 26, 1979). Echoes of Egypt offers a glimpse into a time and place where the western world first began to discover the magnificence of Egypt. In 1798, following his failed Egyptian campaign, Napoleon returned to France, leaving behind some 200 researchers, scientists and artists, whose task it was to document the wonders of Egypt. The team uncovered a tremendous amount of evidence from Egypt's glorious past. Echoes of Egypt reveals some of the first images from the 19th century, including leading artists' impressions of Egypt's great monuments. Egypt has changed hands many times over the centuries. However, the most magnificent monuments, that are the remnants of great kings and pharaohs, continue to captivate tourists and photographers to this day.
