FESTIVAL OF THE VANISHED GARDEN –FEATURING ARTISTS OUT OF THE FRAME

On the premises of the HANSEN HOSPITAL (former Leprosy Hospital), 17 David Marcus Street, Talbieh, Jerusalem

Tuesday to Friday 25-28 May 2010, 12-15 Sivan 5771

From this complex, which served to delegitimize people with leprosy and was therefore a base for the exclusion of people with disabilities from society, we will set out together on a joint journey of action toward social reform. In this Festival, people with different disabilities will assume their rightful place as artists, performers, and leaders in this journey to celebrate art, soul searching, and an authentic encounter with others based on equality, unique talent, and optimism.

On The Program….• Art Fair featuring work by artists with different kinds of disabilities• Performances in and around the complex• Discussions with writers about their life’s journey• Street theater • Art workshops• Children’s activities• Encounter with disabilities through film• Workshops on social change and disabilities
