About This Event

Evening of Stories, Proverbs, and Songs in Four Languages

Thursday, December 26, 8 PM

Dictionaries, which include unique witticisms, proverbs and expressions of the native lingua franca of new Israeli immigrants, have recently appeared in print. This evening will be devoted to a taste of the wide variety of languages spoken in Israel, the way in which certain expressions have entered the Hebrew language from other tongues and influenced contemporary Hebrew. Funny and poignant, the evening is as much about contemporary Israeli society as it is about the language that is spoken daily in Israel.
