It’s raining fun events the week of January 22nd in Jerusalem

It takes more than weather of biblical proportions to keep people in Jerusalem indoors when there’s a good time to be had. Case in point: this last week, which saw rain and hail of epic proportions, and yet floods of people still explored the Holy City and enjoyed all the events and culture Jerusalem has to offer. And so while this week may see mostly clear skies, there is still a deluge of fun around town.

  • Tonight, get your laugh on at Off the Wall Comedy Basement as perennial host David Kilimnick performs one-man show “Find me a wife.” If you’re part of the Katamon dating scene, or even have just watched Srugim, you’ll know exactly what Kilimnick is talking about.
  • If Thursday is about laughing, make Friday about learning. Beit Avi Chai’s lecture series on great scientists is back by popular demand and their third installment will explore the works of Austrian physisct Lise Meitner. Be there or be E=MC square.
  • Return to Beit Avi Chai Saturday night if you want to see one of Israel’s greatest musicians in Rea Mochiach, who normally plays with international superstars Gogol Bordello and Berry Sakharof. Joining him will be his lesser-known but no less talented brother Tom Mochiach, a bassist who has also played with Sakharof, among others. It’s a good time for the whole (Mochiach) family.
  • On Sunday check out the new exhibit at the Museum on the Seam entitled “HomeLessHome.” The museum, no stranger to controversial subjects, will look at the relationship between the state and the home.
  • Tu’Bishvat, the Jewish earth day or tree birthday, is coming up and Beit Avi Chai will have a culinary workshop on the seven native species just in time Monday night.
  • In the U.S. Ronnie is a solid working class boy’s name. In Israel, it’s a sweet moniker for a girl, or the name of a dance routine to be performed at the Gerard Bechar Center Wednesday.

What you see not floating your boat? We’ve got a flood of other events at our full events page. Check it out.
