U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art

About

Tucked away in a quite charming corner in the heart of Jerusalem's city center, lies the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art. A visit to the museum offers a glimpse into Italian Jewish traditions, customs and history, as well as an opportunity to travel back in time and experience the unique magic of Italian Jewry.

The museum's crown jewel is the dazzlingly beautiful synagogue dated from the beginning of the 18th century, which was transported to Israel from Italy. The museum's permanent exhibition "MADE IN ITALY: The Material Side of Spiritual Objects" displays precious Jewish ritual objects, skillfully manufactured, from the Renaissance and Baroque periods until today. The exhibition includes an exquisite gilt Torah Ark, which is securely dated as one of the most ancient in the world.

Temporary exhibits are also held at the museum. In addition, the museum offers activities for children and adults, and holds a variety of cultural events, such as concerts, workshops and many more.
