Sunday jul 24th

Visit distant worlds and ancient civilizations, and discover treasures from around the world at the Museum of Islamic Art during the summer of 2011. All are welcome to enjoy family-friendly plays and concerts from July 24th until August 31st every day at 12:00 for no additional charge above the museum's entrance fee.

(The museum will be closed on the ninth of Av.)

 

Sunday
"Theater Happens": Storytelling in cooperation with the children
This theater production takes place with guitar, costumes, and scenery. During the show, the children enter the world of the story, meeting the characters and even offering a different ending to the plot. Of course, the end of the show is always a happy ending.

Monday
"Scarecrow": Storytelling in cooperation with the children
A tale by Levin Kipnis tells a story of Grandmother Yocheved who lovingly raised vegetables in her garden.

Tuesday
"Petrushka": A doll's journey of adventure in the Train Theater
Anais Limbus's work inspired by Igor Stravinsky. Immediately after Michael leaves for school, Petrushka the puppet comes alive and embarks on a wild journey.


Wednesday
"Adon Kalfon's Magic Show": a musical magic show for the whole family by Adon Kalfon, including flying, disappearing, and reappearing objects, telepathy, and a special surprise hiding in the magic box.

Thursday
"The Dream is a Great Painter", Siegel's legendary theater
Songs and Stories by Leah Goldberg
This performance includes poems, stories, rhymes, music and play with costumes and stage makeup taken from works of Leah Goldberg. The show is conducted with help from children in the audience.

Workshops for children:
Every day, a creative workshop will be held during the following times:


Monday through Thursday, 10:00 - 15:00
Friday 10:00 to 13:00
There will be an additional charge for these workshops.

In these workshops, children can prepare special art projects such as a cuckoo clock, jewelry boxes, musical instruments, and more. These workshops are suitable for all ages and fun for the entire family.

Exhibitions:
The permanent exhibition of Islamic art
Nine museum galleries arranged in chronological order show the art of Muslim culture. From the moment you enter the galleries until you leave, a complete picture of life will take you away to a different place and time.

Mystery of the Stolen Time
Museum visitors are invited to enjoy the famous clock collection of David Slumons, containing over 180 rare watches. The collection has returned to the museum after a twenty-five year search.

Travels-to-Yemen-1987-to-2008-Photographs-by-Naftali-Hilger
Opens on August 3, 2011

The museum is pleased to present photos from Yemen: its landscapes, wonderful architecture, people and the Jews who still live there as revealed through the camera lens of Naftali Hilger.
