The Maccabees are Coming!
A Tour for the Whole Family (in Hebrew)
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday – December 21-23 - At 10 am, 11 am , 12 noon and 1 pm.
A guided tour for the whole family as we set out to discover archaeological findings from the Hasmonean period in the Citadel, the moat and the Kishle building. We will hear about the Chanukah story and delve into the depths of the Hasmonean kingdom; we will learn the story of the revolt against the Greeks and the weapons they used and listen to the personal story of one of the fighters. Finally we will discover the secrets recently uncovered in the moat and the Kishle and we will even prepare a sweet momento.
Duration: Two hours The tour is suitable for families with children ages 5 and up.
Adults: 40 NIS (admission to the Museum) Children: 35 NIS
Participation by pre-registration: *Workshops making chocolate coins are including in the price of admission: 9am – 4 pm.
Walls and Menorahs – Twilight Tours of Families (in Hebrew)
December 17,81, 21, 22 and 23 at 5 pm
A family experience full of light, especially for Hanukah. After a festive lighting ceremony, we will explore the moat ad the Kishle building, looking for the remains of the Hasmoneans and the ancient city walls of Jerusalem. From there we will set off for the alleyways of the Jewish Quarter enjoying the magical light of the lit menorahs on window sills and homes. The tour will be accompanied by stories about light and its source, the holiday traditions and miracles. We conclude at the observation deck of the Western Wall. Part of the tour will be lit by lamplight.
Duration: two and a half hours The tour includes entry to Ramparts Walk.
