Mishkenot Sha'ananim presents "Our Parents, Ourselves, and What's In Between": a reading workshop with a focus on Biblio-therapy, with Dr. Rivka Berger. The aim of the workshop is to develop in the participants an open attitude towards their experiences and feelings, and to equip them with tools and readiness for self awareness and self searching. This will be done through structured, guided readings with a bibliotherapy focus and discussions of the emotional processes that the characters experience, which will allow participants to attain meaningful insights into their own experiences, to be more aware of emotions that they feel in similar experiences, and hopefully even to deal with them differently in the future. The direction in the workshop is based on Dr. Devorah Koboby's method. This year's workshop will focus on five novels and two novellas from Israeli literature that describe parents from the point of view of their children.

The workshop will be comprised of eight meetings, each three hours, which will take place every three weeks on Wednesdays from 17:30-20:30.

The novels: A Tale of Love and Darkness, Amos Oz, 2002 | Dolly City, Orly Castle, Bloom, 2007 | Havalim, Haim Be'er, 1998 | Zeh Hadevarim, Sammy Berdugo, 2010 | Kol Tza'adeinu, Ronit Metlon, 2008. The Novellas: Bidmei Yameha, Shai Agnon, 1923 | Mumik, David Grossman, 2005.

Dates: January 5, 2011 | January 26, 2011 | February 16, 2011 | March 9, 2011 | March 30, 2011 | April 27, 2011 | May 25, 2011 | June 15, 2011

The first meeting will include short excerpts on the topic and the schedule for the rest of the meetings will be presented. The workshop will take place in the Gingoli Hall, Mishkenot Sha'ananim. 900-1,000 NIS.

Space is limited to twenty participants; participation is on a first come first served basis.
