Beit Avi Chai presents "Poetry and Immigration" Yossi Alfi hosts poet Erez Biton.

Erez Biton immigrated from way out west in Algeria, and Yossi Alfi comes from Iraq, off in the east.

The road from Biton's new book Timbisert: A Moroccan Bird to Alfi's first book How to Make an Iraqi is strewn with men, women, landscapes, and various kinds of yearning that are shared by the two authors, whose Israeli and Mizrahi sides are intertwined with the pain of immigration and yearning.

Biton, Alfi, and the rest of their generation are committed to bearing the distress and infusing it with meaning. They look from the past to the future with amusement and even optimism, but no illusions.

Music: Rami Harel, with singer Ronit Ophir

This is a Hebrew-language only event.
