Beit Avi Chai presents "Comics for Grown-Ups": An Illustrated Literary Evening
Tuesday ǀ 11.2 ǀ 8:00 PM
Comics and their older brother, the graphic novel, have been undergoing an amazing blossoming over the past two decades. Something that was once considered as inferior literature, childish and shallow, has become a genuine type of work, relevant, biting, intensive, ambivalent and somewhat autobiographical, and as such can also look honestly at reality and all its hardships.
During this fascinating event artists will demonstrate and discuss super heroism, anti-heroes, frames and speech bubbles that are taking a place of respect in contemporary literature, including Israeli literature.
Host: Rachella Zandbank, Editor at Keter Publishing House
With:
Rutu Modan – Comics artist, illustrator and lecturer
Yirmi Pinkus – Comics artist, author and illustrator
Gilad Seliktar – Comics artist and illustrator
Price: NIS 30, Students: NIS 20.
