About

Travelers arriving to Jerusalem by train used to be dropped off at the classically designed old stone train station nestled between Baka and the German Colony, within sight of the Old City. Then the municipality closed down the train station and opened a new, modern one several years later located in Malcha on the far southwestern fringe of the city.

But train passengers' loss has become Jerusalem nightlife's gain, because the forsaken old train station has become the center of a bustling upscale restaurant and bar district. At the center of it all is Izen, a night spot that wears the multiple hats of musical performance space, nightclub, bar and restaurant.

Diners can choose from the now-standard Israeli hip night restaurant selection of fruits de mer, entrecote steak, enormous salads and much more, and drinkers will be pleased by the large bar fully stocked with plenty of imported liquor. When there isn't live music, there's a DJ, with a small amount of space set aside for the dinner-and-dancing crowd.
