About

Downtown Jerusalem is home to a growing crowd of upscale restaurants catering to an Orthodox Jewish clientele (particularly wealthy tourists and temporary residents), and with Sheyan, that elite group includes an Asian restaurant.

Located in Rechavia's Tachanat Haruach, a small shopping center built under a windmill down Ramban Street from the Prima Kings Hotel, Sheyan's carefully considered décor and extensive menu put it on par with similar classy pan-Asian restaurants outside of Israel, and it's all kosher l'mehadrin. Upon buzzing in at the gate, you'll be greeted by a large stone courtyard and an expansive interior tastefully decorated with Japanese calligraphy prints and rice paper.

The large menu draws on Chinese, Japanese and Southeast Asian influences equally, with wonton soup, eggrolls, dim sum, noodles in coconut and ginger, sushi, beef strips in kiwi and mango sauce, a variety of rice dishes and plenty of that shared Jewish/Asian favorite, chicken. Vegetarians will be more than taken care of.
