The Old City ensconces sites of massive significance to all three of the main Abrahamic faiths - in fact, there are so many scattered about that it can be daunting for visitors to visit and appreciate them all without some sort of guidance.
Fortunately, the Classic Old City Tour offers a thorough introduction to the most theologically and historically significant of the Old City's landmarks, with an expert guide giving proper context to the sights and sounds.
The tour begins with a panoramic view of the Old City on the Mount of Olives. From here, the site of Jesus' anguish on the Mount of Olives, the tour enters the Old City through the Lions' Gate, and proceeds through the Via Dolorosa, which culminates in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Afterwards, the group progresses on towards the Jewish Quarter, taking in the Cardo, the main street of Roman Jerusalem, and the Western Wall, the holiest prayer site for the world's Jews.
Tours of holy sites require modest dress. Men should cover their head at Jewish sites and uncover it at Christian sites. Women should ensure that knees and shoulders are covered. No shorts are allowed for either gender.
The tour is on foot and the sun can be hot; comfortable shoes and hats are recommended.
