The holiday of Eid ul-Fitr marks the conclusion of the month-long fast of Ramadan. A three-day celebration, Eid ul-Fitr begins on the first day of the Muslim month of Shawwai. Muslims are commanded during this time to recite the Takbir, the phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is great).
