The Museum for Islamic Art presents four special concerts in the framework of Hamshushalayim: three weekends of culture and art in Jerusalem. The concerts will take place on the Thursday nights of November 29, December 6, 13, and 20, 2012, when each Thursday will feature three short performances free of charge at 21:30, 22:30, and 23:30. This museum invites you to enjoy a series of concerts celebrating Arab music, piyyutim, world music, musical trills and tradition, which will take you deep in to the history of Arab music throughout the years.


In addition, on those nights all parts of the museum, including the permanent and temporary exhibitions (except for The Mystery of Lost Time) will be open free of charge to all visitors, and the museum will be open for special extended night time hours from 21:00-1:00.


Thursday, November 29, 2012: Classics of Arab singers from Baghdad to Paz: Yair Dalal and the Jewish-Arab ensemble


Thursday, December 6, 2012: The Best of Arab Music: The Center Ensemble for Eastern Music from Musrara


Thursday December 13, 2012: Arab-style Chanukah "hafla": Paytan David Menahem and musician Elad Gabai join with other musicians for a night of the best of Arabic music and Eastern piyyutim.


Thursday December 20, 2012: "Shahariar": An authentic musical ensemble plays and sings a wide variety of the best of classical Arab music, including songs of Um Koultoum, Fried Alatrash, and more, accompanied by segments of Sufi dancing.
