The Museum for Islamic Art presents three special concerts in the framework of Hamshushalayim: three weekends of culture and art in Jerusalem. The concerts will take place on the Thursday nights of December 2, 9, and 16, 2010, when each Thursday will feature three performances free of charge at 21:30, 22:30, and 23:30. In addition, on those nights all parts of the museum, including the permanent exhibitions and the new "Embroidered Dreams" exhibit, will be open free of charge to all visitors, and the museum will be open for special extended night time hours from 21:00-1:00.


Thursday, December 2, 2010: "Shahariar": Four musicians playing oud, recorder, darbuka, and daf perform the best of classical Arabic music, accompanied by dance artist Gal Shomron.


Thursday, December 9, 2010: "Band Orient Ethnic Jazz - Yair Dalal": a show which fuses ethnic music and elements from Jazz. Violin and oud musician Yair Dalal with Eli Banakut, Erez Monk, and Yotam Haimovitz come together in this fascinating, stirring, and thoroughly enjoyable musical encounter between east and west, ethnic and modern, in the spirit of improvisation.

Thursday December 16, 2010: "Istanbul - Jerusalem": Jerusalem music with a Turkish twist by "Beit Abba." Beit Abba is a Jerusalemite band which sings and plays original melodies and piyyutim in authentic style, while fusing varied eastern musical styles. The members of Beit Abba, each well known and active musicians in his own right, joined together for this project.
