The Israel Museum presents "Sandbox: A Studio Project with the Bezalel Industrial Design Department"
February 19, 2013-April 1, 2013
Location: Beningson Gallery, Ruth Youth Wing
A "sandbox" is a metaphor for a place where ideas find their realization through exploration, examination, and contemplation. The exhibition presents selected works by industrial design students from Bezalel, produced as part of a project that began with seminars and visits to the Israel Museum, continued at the Dead Sea, and concluded in the Museum's Youth Wing. Each year the department's students spend time at the Dead Sea experimenting with traditional techniques and local materials. The results exemplify a balance between improvisation and rigorous planning, with a particular emphasis on the creative process. The Youth Wing for Art Education sees itself as a large "sandbox" for experimentation, and is therefore a natural partner for such an initiative.
Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00; Tuesday 16:00 to 21:00; Friday 10:00 to 14:00
