The School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem celebrates 25 years of activity with the first ever international conference on performance.

Performance 0:1 is a new platform for dialogue and encounters between artists, students, and theoreticians from Israel and abroad. The theme of this year's conference is "Involvements": performance between the private and public spheres. Panels, workshops, performances, and displays will fill the halls of the School of Visual Theatre for three days providing an experience in which the audience is not just the audience...

The term "performance" has become a basic and relevant concept in the art scene, which crosses the border of the stage and applies to various mediums and phenomena. The conference will combine an academic research event which raises questions and an artistic event which exposes the best of recent work in the discipline. It will include panels, lectures, performances, and encounters with artists, in addition to video art and displays which will be on view throughout the school at the conference.

Among the conference performances is a 24 hour show by Gai Briller which takes place on the roof of a building and is screened in an open space at the conference and broadcast streaming on the internet.

Over 50 artists from several disciplines will participate in the conference. Artistic director: Gai Gutman

The conference will take place from May 22-24, 2012.

Times: Tuesday: from 19:00, Wednesday and Thursday: from 10:00-24:00.
Place: The School of Visual Theatre, Yad Harutzim 4, Jerusalem | 02-673-3435 | www.visualtheater.co.il
